  • Authored study for the FAA identifying alternative aviation fuel supply chain and project financing issues that must be addressed to support the deployment of sustainable jet fuel in the U.S. and recommending changes to government support programs.
  • Teamed with prime contractor to produce "Guidelines for the Integration of Alternative Jet Fuel into the Airport Setting" under ACRP research project ACRP 02-18.
  • Member of the review panel for ACRP research project ACRP 02-16 "Airport Ground Support Equipment Inventory and Emission Reduction Strategies."
  • Teamed with prime contractor in FAA's "Advanced Jet Fuel Quality and Performance Control R&D Study" to recommend changes in the existing aviation fuel quality control and best handling practices necessary to safely deploy alternative aviation fuels at the nation's commercial airports.
  • Teamed with prime contractor in ACRP research project ACRP 02-36, "Assessing Opportunities for Alternative Fuel Distribution Programs," to help airport managements understand opportunities and issues with distributing alternative fuels at airports.
  • Developed aircraft and engine database for use by the FAA for planning and evaluating environmental policies that contains all aircraft and engine models that are either used in or flown to the United States.
  • Organized meeting with the New York financial community to help USDA understand the limitations of its alternative fuel finance guarantee programs.
  • Designed a five-step deployment process for CAAFI to help fuel buyers and sellers develop alternative aviation fuel projects.
  • Provided information to Embraer, bio jet fuel producer Amyris, GE and Azul Airlines, and worked with Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency, ANAC, which resulted in an MOU for a flight test of an Amyris fermentation process alternative jet fuel in an Azul airplane.
  • Explored ways to use South Africa's leadership in FT aviation fuel to help meet U.S. alternative aviation fuel objectives with South Africa government officials, academic institutions, and industry representatives.
  • Worked with the U.S. Department of Defense, through its procurement division, DESC, to identify ways to accelerate the deployment of alternative fuels by collaborating with U.S. airlines through Airlines for America.
  • Produced a report for the Inter-American Development Bank on the economic potential of developing alternative aviation fuel production in Latin America.
  • Performed a high level strategic feasibility study to evaluate the use of municipal solid waste for the production of alternative aviation fuel for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. This assessed feedstock availability in the region and the current status of appropriate production technology.
  • Supported the evaluation of supply chain issues on multiple projects by CAAFI's Business and Economics team.
  • Advised a Canadian industrial oil seed producer how to develop a strategy for it to enter the U.S. market.
  • Studied supply chain economics for the location of a seed crushing facility in Canada and provided advice on government policy issues.
  • Advised a U.S. startup producer of alternate aviation fuel on structuring a fuel purchase agreement with the airline industry.
  • Advised Petrobras Biocombustivel, the Petrobras subsidiary responsible for developing sustainable, renewable bio fuels, on alternative aviation fuel certification issues.
  • Advised Embraer on alternative aviation fuel issues and the creation of ABRABA, the Brazilian counterpart of CAAFI.
  • Advised ANAC on alternative aviation fuel certification issues and bilateral issues with the United States leading to a bio fuels bilateral agreement between the U.S. and Brazil signed by Presidents Obama and Rousseff in 2011.
  • Provided advice to numerous fuel technology companies on stakeholder interests in Brazil.
  • Advised companies on how to use alternative aviation fuel knowledge in preparing offset packages.
  • Provided ASTM certification roadmap to ANP, the Brazilian National Petroleum Agency, pursuant to qualifying new bio jet fuel candidates for aviation use.
